April, originally from Henderson, NC, earned her first bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature from North Carolina State University in Raleigh before pivoting to nursing later in life. While raising two children, April pursued her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Winston Salem State University, launching her nursing career in the Orthopedic trauma operating room at WakeMed.

Her trajectory evolved into the CardioThoracic ICU at WakeMed, where she navigated the complexities of critical care. When cardiac surgeries were paused during the pandemic, she accepted an assignment in the COVID-19 ICU at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC. This challenging period reinforced her belief in the power of lifestyle factors such as nutrition, exercise, and holistic practices to prevent illness and enhance overall well-being.

Beyond her professional endeavors at OrthoNC, April finds joy in exploring local Farmer’s Markets, staying active with weightlifting and outdoor adventures, and nurturing her children’s curiosity through travel.
