Understanding your bones and overall bone health.
Everyone over the age of 50 will experience normal, age-related bone loss. While women lose bone mass more quickly after menopause, bone loss happens in men too. In fact, according to the most recent Surgeon General’s Report on Bone Health and Osteoporosis, “too many people assume they are not at risk for bone loss. They believe that if they haven’t had any signs or symptoms of damage, then their bones are healthy and strong.” As a result, weak/brittle bones are often missed during regular physical exam checkups and people maintain a greater risk for fractures and their complications.

Improving bone health starts here.
At OrthoNC, we take a holistic, 360-approach to diagnosing and treating bone-related conditions. Our dedicated Bone Health Team – comprised of experienced clinicians and health and wellness coaches, gives patients the best possible chance to address bone health at every stage of life — minimizing the risk of painful, debilitating fractures and helping to slow the progression of or prevent the onset of osteoporosis.
Our Philosophy and Approach
We are unique in our approach to bone health by utilizing the functional medicine model that seeks to determine the underlying root cause of a patient’s condition. We understand that in most cases, a patient’s bone health is directly affected by a combination of genetics, environmental factors, and lifestyle choices.
Utilizing a whole body, patient-centered, and science-based approach, we aim to:
Recognize
Investigate and recognize the underlying issues impacting your health and contributing to potential bone loss and/or poor bone quality.
Restore
Restore the nutritents needed for stronger, healthier bones through diet, targeted supplementation, improved digestion and absorption, and balancing hormones.
Rebuild
Rebuild stronger, healthier bones to reduce the risk of fractures and their complications.
With early intervention, we can help prevent bone loss and osteoporosis. Schedule an appointment today.

The Patient Journey
As a patient in our clinic. You are surrounded by a team of experts dedicated to improving your overall bone health so you can enjoy greater quality of life, without fear of breaking a bone.
Step 1
When you arrive at our bone health clinic for the first time, our clinical staff will take a detailed medical history to better understand your overall health. This may include gathering medical records to gain the full clinical picture of your condition.
Step 2
Next, we will perform a bone density test or DEXA scan. This technology gives us a detailed measurement of your overall bone health and helps determine how much bone (or bone loss) you have as well as the quality/brittleness of your bones. We will also order lab tests to better understand possible causes of bone loss including hormone imbalances, nutrient deficiencies and digestion and absorption issues.
Step 3
If bone loss is detected, we will create a personalized treatment plan. This may involve a combination of medication, targeted supplementation, and lifestyle intervention. With our team by your side, we will help get you on the right path and stay on track to becoming a healthier, happier you!
All women over age 65 and men over age 70 should have a bone density test. Schedule yours now.
