Insurance Coverage

Most insurers do not require an official referral from your primary care physician for injuries sustained in athletic competition. In those cases in which referral is required, please encourage the athlete to be referred to Orthopaedic Specialists of North Carolina when orthopedic care is needed. We may be able to help you with this process.

In addition to your primary insurance, you may also have a “Secondary” or School sponsored insurance plan. This secondary insurance plan will help to cover any additional expenses not covered by your primary insurance plan. To assist you and for your convenience, we will file both primary and secondary insurance claims. In order for your claim to be covered by Student Insurance, a claim form must be provided to us at the time of your appointment.

If you have not been given a form by your athletic trainer we can provide you with one. When we have a completed form we will file your claim with the insurance company.
