Her leadership skills were also recognized with promotions to PA Manager in 2014 and then Director of Clinical Services in 2016.

Following a personal health challenge in 2017, Michelle discovered a deep interest in nutrition and lifestyle medicine, not only as an adjunct to the treatment of various musculoskeletal conditions but also to improve patients’ overall health and quality of life. This sparked her journey into functional medicine, emphasizing a root-cause, whole-person approach. In September 2019, she was named Director of Health and Wellness at OrthoNC, where she was entrusted with developing and leading the practice’s first health and wellness program, OrthoNC Health.

To further support her work, Michelle completed training in health coaching through UNC-Greensboro’s Department of Public Education and completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program through Yoga Unlimited. In August 2020, she was honored as a PA Foundation Nutrition Outreach Fellow, receiving additional specialized training and resources to integrate nutrition more effectively into her clinical practice and community.

After three years of rigorous coursework, completing a detailed case report, and passing the written certification exam, as of December 2024, Michelle is now recognized as an IFM (Institute for Functional Medicine) Certified Practitioner (IFMCP). This achievement reflects her commitment to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care that addresses the root causes of chronic conditions.

Currently, Michelle’s clinic focuses on the treatment of bone-related disorders, including osteopenia and osteoporosis, as well as treating patients with complex health challenges using an integrative and functional medicine approach. She has a special interest in helping patients improve their bone density and reduce the risk of fractures through a whole-body and comprehensive approach based on nutrition, lifestyle change, targeted supplementation, and exercise. She is passionate about empowering others to achieve their health and wellness goals through personalized, whole-person care.

Michelle is a current member of the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), and licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board. Additionally, she is a registered yoga teacher (RYT 200) with Yoga Alliance.

Outside of work, Michelle enjoys practicing and teaching yoga, traveling the world, collecting and restoring antique wooden boats, paddleboarding, and spending time with her husband and two wonderful boys!
