We are excited to welcome Dr. Ryan Aschenbrener, a board-certified Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician, to our team. Dr. Aschenbrener specializes in interventional spine care and minimally invasive pain treatments, offering patients new options to relieve pain and restore function.
Dr. Aschenbrener will begin seeing patients starting May 4, 2026, at our Wakefield-Wake Forest, Wendell Falls, and Henderson locations.

Dr. Aschenbrener focuses on helping patients reduce pain, improve mobility, and return to the activities they enjoy. His treatment philosophy centers around non-surgical and minimally invasive care, helping patients find relief while avoiding unnecessary surgery whenever possible.

With Dr. Aschenbrener joining OrthoNC, patients now have access to additional innovative pain management and spine treatment options, including:
- Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections for certain spine-related conditions
- Peripheral Nerve Stimulator (PNS) implantation for chronic nerve pain
- Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) implantation to help manage persistent pain
- Kyphoplasty, a minimally invasive procedure used to treat certain spinal compression fractures
These treatments are designed to target the source of pain while minimizing recovery time, helping patients get back to daily activities sooner.

Dr. Aschenbrener brings extensive training and expertise in musculoskeletal and spine care.
His training includes:
- Undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin
- Medical school at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine
- Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency at the University of Virginia
- Fellowship training in Interventional Spine & Musculoskeletal Medicine at ISPPC in Washington, DC
Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. Aschenbrener developed an early interest in sports, performance medicine, and musculoskeletal care, which continues to shape his patient-centered approach today.
