Specializing in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery
Dr. Phillip Horne is a spine surgeon who evaluates and treats a wide range of spinal conditions, including neck and back pain, degenerative spine disease, disc disorders, and nerve-related conditions affecting mobility and quality of life.
He completed advanced spine surgery training at Duke University and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and previously practiced with Duke Health at Duke Raleigh Hospital from 2015 to 2023. He later founded Premier Spinal Surgery with a focus on delivering patient-centered, coordinated care and utilizing innovative surgical techniques when appropriate.
Dr. Horne takes a thoughtful, individualized approach to care—prioritizing non-surgical treatment whenever possible. He works closely with patients to explore all treatment options, emphasizing education and shared decision-making to develop plans tailored to each patient’s condition, medical history, and lifestyle.
When surgery is indicated, Dr. Horne specializes in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted spine procedures, including microdecompression, cervical disc replacement, and spinal fusion. His goal is to provide effective, targeted treatment that supports recovery, restores function, and promotes long-term outcomes.
Dr. Horne sees patients on the OrthoNC campus through his independent practice, Premier Spinal Surgery, and performs procedures at the OrthoNC Ambulatory Surgery Center. He is committed to timely access to care, often offering same-day or next-day appointments, and works closely with therapy and pain management partners to support comprehensive treatment and recovery.
