Orthopaedic Specialists of North Carolina is seeking a full-time Certified/ Registered Medical Assistant to work within a care team in our physician practice. This Physician is a surgeon with a knee, shoulder, and sports medicine surgical specialty. The position is full-time with varying hours based on clinic and surgical schedule. The provider has clinic on Monday, Thursday and some Wednesdays. They are in surgery Tuesday, Friday and some Wednesdays. There is the opportunity to work remotely on days where admin tasks are being completed. This clinical role operates out of our Wakefield and Knightdale offices.

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus to be paid out over the course of 2 years. More information is available upon request.

Job responsibilities:

  • Assist providers in providing quality medical care.
  • Meet and greet patients while escorting to exam room.
  • Complete triage process and ensure all information is documented in EHR, Athena
  • Wound care including removing sutures/staples, dressing changes, etc.
  • Administrative tasks including answering and returning patient phone calls, chart prep, disability paperwork etc.
  • Completing prior authorizations for viscosupplementation and medication as needed.
  • At the direction of the supervising physician, perform appropriate point of care testing and order appropriate diagnostic testing or follow-up care.
  • DME fitting and casting
  • Promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/her involvement in the plan of care, and document in patient record.
  • Follow all state and federal regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Other duties will be assigned by management as needed.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a High School Diploma is required. Medical Assistant Certification/Registration is preferred. Clinical experience is required; Orthopaedic experience is preferred but not required. Athena (EMR) experience preferred.
