Join OrthoNC and Dr. Derek Watson for a free Intracept Therapy Awareness Event on October 28.
If you’ve been living with chronic low back pain and treatments like physical therapy, medications, or injections haven’t provided lasting relief, you may be wondering what options are left.
For some patients, the source of chronic low back pain may be a nerve within the bones of the spine called the basivertebral nerve. The Intracept Procedure offers a minimally invasive way to target this nerve and provide relief for appropriately selected patients, without implants or major spine surgery.
On Wednesday, October 28, OrthoNC invites you to join Dr. Derek Watson for a free patient education event to learn more about chronic vertebrogenic low back pain and the Intracept Procedure.
Could Your Back Pain Be Vertebrogenic?
Not all back pain has the same cause. Vertebrogenic pain originates from damaged vertebral endplates, the structures located between the vertebral bones and spinal discs. These changes can stimulate the basivertebral nerve and contribute to persistent low back pain.
Patients with vertebrogenic pain may experience chronic pain centered in the lower back, particularly when sitting, bending forward, or performing everyday activities.
An MRI and evaluation by a qualified spine specialist can help determine whether vertebrogenic pain may be contributing to your symptoms.
What Is the Intracept Procedure?
The Intracept Procedure, also known as basivertebral nerve ablation, is a minimally invasive treatment for certain patients with chronic vertebrogenic low back pain.
During the procedure, a physician accesses the basivertebral nerve within the vertebra and uses radiofrequency energy to disrupt its ability to transmit pain signals.
The procedure is:
- Minimally invasive
- Implant-free
- Drug-free
- Designed to target a specific source of chronic low back pain
Not everyone with low back pain is a candidate for Intracept, making an accurate diagnosis and evaluation especially important.
Learn About Intracept from Dr. Watson
At this free educational event, Dr. Derek Watson will discuss chronic low back pain, explain how vertebrogenic pain is diagnosed, and walk attendees through how the Intracept Procedure works.
You’ll also have an opportunity to learn more about who may be a candidate for treatment and when it may be time to consider an option beyond traditional conservative care.
Whether you have been dealing with back pain for months or years, this event is an opportunity to become better informed about your condition and the treatment options available to you.
